CRL - Underpinning

Freyssinet were engaged for the underpinning works of the heritage Central Post Office building in the heart of Auckland CBD. This was part of the work to accommodate twin railway tunnels that would run underneath the building. 

Key Aspects:

- Assist with underpinning methodology development

- Stressbar and multi-strand post tensioning work on reinforced concrete underpinning structures

- Stressbar and grouting of temporary steel underpinning structures

- Load transfer from the building foundation to the tunnel diaphragm "D-walls" using flatjacks 

- Load transfer from the D-walls onto the tunnel roof using flatjacks
