36 Customhouse Quay - Seismic Strengthening

35 Customhouse Quay is a multistorey building right in the heart of Wellington CBD. It underwent a seismic strengthening project to bring it up to the current building standard. It mainly consisted of installation and stressing of Freyssibars onto the existing concrete structure or newly installed structural steel brackets and frames. 

Freyssinet successfully proposed an alternative to the current stressbars in the design and supplied nearly 500no. of Freyssibars and accessories at various lengths. These were mostly hot dip galvanised and were directly imported from the manufacturer in South Africa. Second part of the project was stressing at the column locations.
