Key Aspects

Supply and install 11.2m long 32mm diameter Freyssibars within the perimeter brick walls
1.2m of each bar grouted to act as a dead end anchorage
All bars stressed and grouted subsequently on completion
Anti-corrosion achieved through encompassing the bars within the grout and installing galvanised bearing plates and caps on top

After the Kaikoura Earthquake of November 2016, a 130 year old four storey brick building in the Wellington CBD was to undergo major sesimic strengthening to bring it up to the New Building Standard.

It had its floors and balconies demolished and new floor slabs poured, together with the life shaft constructed.

Freyssinet were engaged to strengthen the perimeter walls with the use of Freyssibars anchored within the brick wall in the basement floor.
